The observation tower has witnessed the origin and development of Wild Elephant Valley. This area is home to the highest concentration of wild Asian elephants and sees their most frequent activity, making it a key scientific monitoring site for conservation managers and researchers studying these majestic creatures. Originally established in the early 1990s by scientists, the tower was designed to facilitate research on wild Asian elephants.

Facing the serene valley, let your body and mind gently unwind, savoring the blissful sense of harmony with nature.

Around the observatory lies a vast expanse of rainforest—the primary habitat of wild Asian elephants, a pristine sanctuary where these majestic creatures thrive undisturbed by human activity. This area serves as a critical corridor for wild Asian elephants to drink, forage, and traverse freely. The river and its banks are dotted with numerous "nitang" (salt licks)—particularly concentrated near the observatory itself. Moreover, this spot happens to be located at a sharp bend in the river, where the channel widens significantly and water flow slows down. As a result, sediments carried downstream from upstream easily accumulate here, depositing rich mineral deposits deep beneath the riverbed. These nutrient-rich areas have become vital feeding grounds, providing wild elephants with essential trace elements to meet their dietary needs.

To cater to the diverse travel needs of visitors, Wild Elephant Valley has launched a tent-camping experience at its Observation Platform. If you’re looking for something truly unique, come here and embark on an unforgettable camping adventure: sleep surrounded by the rainforest as your bed and the starry sky as your blanket, drifting off to the gentle rhythm of wild elephants breathing—and waking up to uncover the magic hidden in the glow of fireflies. Uncover the wild yet poetic essence of this mysterious land.
